Art is vibrant, powerful, shocking, and full of color. It is deep, confusing, paradoxical, and random. It is an expression of our innermost thoughts, desires, fears, and hopes. It is beautiful. It is alive. And art is sacred to my soul.

As the sun falls beneath the horizon, drowning in the sudden flood of moonlight, and the late evening breeze cools down the scorching city, the stars emerge from their cocoon of clouds. And the intricate cogs of my mind mesh together, spinning faster as I gaze into the depths of the night sky. The innermost cogitations of my mind come into sharp focus as I ponder the true meaning of life...and the deep mysteries of the Force. And even though I'm flying through space at nearly 140 miles per second, the ocean of my mind is still. Humankind has always looked to the stars, filled with the irresistible urge to KNOW. And yet, in accordance with the universal law of irony, the answers we seek lie within us. Different people have different ways of finding the truth within. And I embrace the light from the stars that departed a long time ago, from a galaxy far, far away...

I will never leave

I sit here, watching colors reconfigure themselves millions of times a minute into images flashing across my screen. Events that shaped my childhood, and are still shaping me now, flash by, bringing tears to my eyes. A powerful wave of emotion surges through my body; the adrenaline rush is unmatched by anything I've ever experienced before. I am the person I am now because of what I see before me, and nothing has ever felt more amazing to behold. The awe I feel is no less than what I felt 13 years ago, when I entered this endless universe for the first time. And now I know that I will never leave.

and now her watch is ended

She was a warrior. Defending herself and her own from anything the world cared to throw at them. For the night is dark and full of terrors. Terrors that threaten to render us forever harmless. Four years have passed since her battle turned inward. Waging war against herself, pain etched into every fiber of her being. Yet she persevered,  battling bravely onward. A week ago, she breathed her last. But she fought on till her last breath. And now her watch is ended.
